The January 8, 2025 episode of General Hospital delved into the aftermath of Sonny’s penthouse fire and how badly Michael was injured.
Caught in the Crossfire
After the Monday, January 6 episode left viewers in shock as Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse was set ablaze and Michael (Chad Duell, who recently appeared on State of Mind) was engulfed in flames, things only turned more chaotic as Jason (Steve Burton) rushed in to save his nephew while Sonny called 911.

Once Jason got Michael out of the penthouse that was still in flames, he was brought to GH, where Lucas (Van Hansis) and Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) jumped into action. The scenes disturbingly depicted Michael covered in burns, all while Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Drew (Cameron Mathison, who heartbreakingly revealed he lost his home in the fires) were hitting the sheets in DC.
Uncertain Times
As they worked on Michael, Carly (Laura Wright) arrived at GH and found Sonny and Jason covered in smoke, asking if they were okay. That was when they revealed Michael was caught in the flames. While Brennan (Charles Mesure) went to find Josslyn (Eden McCoy) to inform her about her brother, Carly tore into Sonny over one of her kids being the victim of an attack on him, something she’s done many times before.
While everyone rallied at GH, Michael became conscious as Isaiah tended to him while Lucas approached his family in the hall. After revealing Michael received third-degree burns on 40 percent of his body, when Carly asked if her son will live, Lucas honestly told her they didn’t know.
How do you think things will end for Michael as his GH exit approaches? Let us know in the comments.
