Ric’s announcement that Heather’s sentence had been vacated on General Hospital caused confusion, anger, and terror to cascade across Port Charles. He did this at Marshall’s going away party in a room full of people who were well aware that Heather had targeted Trina in her horrific rampage. But since her faulty hip was replaced, Heather seems to be a changed person. So, will she revert to her murderous ways?
Sometimes, retconning a character can be very frustrating for the fans. James Franco did a good job playing serial killer Franco, who had an obsession with Jason (Steve Burton). But that all changed when Roger Howarth took on the part, and it was revealed that a brain tumor caused him to become a killer. Now, Franco’s mother, Heather (Alley Mills), had a similar affliction with her replaced hip. It gave her metallosis and caused her to become a homicidal maniac.
Since she had surgery to replace the hip with a more modern one that wouldn’t give her cobalt poisoning, Heather’s demeanor has changed. She comes across as more rational than she had been. And she just wants to spend time with her grandson, Ace (the Clay brothers). Considering Heather was a schemer from the beginning, coupled with her accidentally ingesting a huge amount of LSD that made her nutty, did she really shed the killer within?

Fans love Alley Mills’ demented portrayal of Heather, but having a murderous psychopath as a regular character just doesn’t work. Killers need to have a redemption story if they’re going to remain on the show. And Heather has a good motive: Ace. That’s literally her ace in the hole and is what will most likely keep her on notice to remain well-behaved.
We can foresee a storyline that has been done before. Angry citizens target Heather, even if she hasn’t done anything wrong since her release. Heather becomes the victim if that happens, and many angry citizens will be at fault. She could even be the center of a murder mystery, with nearly everyone in town a suspect.
With Heather having already done the killer thing, odds are she’ll remain a good citizen.
