Why We’re Sure Now Gio Is BLQ and Dante’s Child On General Hospital

From the moment Gio showed up on General Hospital, viewers have been asking: What is the point of this character? Sure, he’s sweet. And cute. And he fiddles nicely. But he hasn’t had much of a story, and even what we assume would be a romance with Trina has been put on the back-burner in favor of Big Man About Campus Football Guy. Now, anvils have been dropping like crazy that Gio is a child Brook Lynn had with Dante as a teenager and gave up to be raised by an extended member of the Cerrullo family. We had our suspicions before. But now we are sure.

Clue Number One

Gio (Giovanni Mazza) is good at music. Brook Lynn (Amanda Sutton) is good at music! This is kind of like a Johann Ambrosius Bach and Johann Sebastian Bach sort of deal. Or Will and Willow Smith. The point is, if a parent is talented, then the child will be talented in the same way. (Ignore Frank Sinatra and Frank Sinatra Jr.)

And since Gio and Brook Lynn and Ned (Wally Kurth), Brook Lynn’s father, are the only musicians on the canvas, then ipso facto, ta-da! (Sure, there are also Chase [Josh Swickard] and Blaze [Jacqueline Grace Lopez], but…um…just ignore them.)

Exchanging Glances

Whenever talk turns to Brook Lynn and Chase’s fertility challenges, Lois (Rena Sofer) looks shifty. Whenever talk turns to Gio’s dead parents, Lois looks shifty.

We know what shifty means on soap operas! Somebody knows something that they don’t want somebody else to know. If Brook Lynn gave up her baby for adoption, Lois would know. (Though Ned seems to have been left in the dark.) Especially if Lois arranged for it to go to a family member so Lois could keep an eye on the boy.

Proof Positive

But the thing that confirms what we’ve all long suspected is that Lulu (Alexa Havins) has just started working for BLQ. Lulu used to be married to Dante (Dominic Zaparonga).

Dante has an affair with Brook Lynn. Lulu hates BLQ. But Lulu will certainly hate BLQ at lot more if she learns that her nemesis didn’t just have an affair with Lulu’s husband recently, she also slept with him back at summer camp and bore his child. The claws will come out! Let the good times roll!
