As the shocking news of Brandon Barash’s Days of our Lives exit settles across Salem, here’s why his old stomping grounds of General Hospital should scoop him back up, and fast.
Barash’s History
Barash started out on daytime when he joined GH in 2007 as Johnny, the son of Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) mob nemesis Anthony (Bruce Weitz) – or so they thought. After memorable relationships with characters like Lulu, Carly (Laura Wright), and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) and finding out his actual parents were Gino (Joseph Sirola) and the woman he believed was his sister, he was sent to Pentonville after taking the fall for a crime Lulu committed, prompting Barash’s 2016 exit.
In 2019, Barash arrived in Salem when he took on the role of Stefan (previously played by the late GH star Tyler Christopher). Barash joined a list of DAYS actors to play more than one character when Stefan supposedly died and he returned as his twin brother, Jake. When Jake died in 2023, Stefan rose from the dead and endured a rocky relationship with Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) up until his impending exit on October 28, 2024.
Back To Port Charles?
Although Johnny hasn’t been seen in Port Charles since 2016, now may be the perfect time to bring the character back, starting with Lulu’s upcoming recovery. When Lulu finally wakes up and finds out her old boyfriend Dustin (ex-Mark Lawson) died, it’s easy to assume she’ll reunite with Dante (Dominic Zaprogna), especially after Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) potential death. But if Johnny comes back to town, Dante may have some competition with one of Lulu’s former flames.
Another key reason to bring Barash back to Port Charles right now is a fan favorite one: Port Chuck. While Barash is currently a member of Day Players, a band formed by Eric Martsolf, Wally Kurth, Carson Boatman, and himself, his first came was one made up of GH actors. Port Chuck ran from 2010-2020 and featured Barash along with Steve Burton, Bradford Anderson, and Scott Reeves. With Burton, Anderson, and Reeves all currently back on GH, it’s only right to get the band back together and bring on Barash.
