Whose Boots Are Those? A Hint At General Hospital’s Big August 23 Return

The preview for the August 23, 2024 episode of General Hospital ended with a mystery, but it all leads to Port Charles’ biggest return of the year.

GH has seen several familiar faces come home to Port Charles this year, starting with Jason (Steve Burton), who came back from the dead in an unexpected twist. More recently, Bryan Craig made a one-episode return as Morgan when Sonny (Maurice Benard) faced a mental health crisis, while Ric (Rick Hearst) came back to town to support his daughter, Molly (Kristen Vaganos), during her baby’s funeral.

Amid Molly and Kristina (Kate Mansi) tearing into each other over the baby’s death and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) arriving to give Maxie (Kirsten Storms) an update on Lulu, the August 23 sneak peek showed a mysterious person dressed in black, their face cut off from the screen. It appeared they were being thrown into what looked like a cell, wrists and ankles in chains as the scene zoomed in on their boots.

Not-So-Lucky

TVGuide has revealed that Jonathan Jackson will return as Lucky on August 23, and it’s easy to assume these mysterious boots belong to the legacy character. “In some ways, I would say he’s the most like Luke (Anthony Geary) that he’s ever been,” Jackson told TV Guide.

Being captured is nothing new for Lucky, who was previously held by Helena (Constance Towers) when she faked his death in a fire in 1999. Since then, Lucky has been portrayed by three different actors, including Jackson, who first returned to GH in 2009. After a drug addiction, a mission in Ireland, and having a son with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Lucky left Port Charles to find himself and do volunteer work in Africa.

“He’s been away for almost a decade. The reasons for him being away are revealed,” Jackson teased to TVGuide.

Lucky was last seen on GH in 2015 when Jackson returned for Geary’s farewell episodes. The actor recently commemorated his return by snapping an iconic photo on the GH set.
