Back in September, General Hospital‘s Drew was shot in the back, twice, by a mystery shooter. The shadow really resembled Willow’s frame and haircut. But that seems too easy, yet she is also very unstable and could have done the deed.

This week, she was arrested for the crime after a gun was planted in the room she is sleeping in at Elizabeth’s house. Nina was also arrested because she provided Willow with a false alibi, and it was proven by the video cameras in Nina’s building that she was inside when Drew was shot and left after the fact. So who would want to set Wiillow up? Is Willow too obvious a suspect to actually have done the deed?

Key Takeaways

  • Drew’s shooting has shaken Port Charles, with suspicion immediately falling on Willow due to her unstable behavior and complicated past.
  • Her previous marriage to Michael, ongoing custody battles, and downward spiral have created multiple motives, further complicating the investigation.
  • Carly’s fierce protective instincts are on full display as she has consistently risked everything to keep her children safe from mob threats, illness, and manipulation.
  • Suspicion spreads across town, with Michael, Carly, Willow, and Nina all having reasons to be involved, while others like Nelle or Ronnie remain possible suspects.
  • Evidence found in Willow’s room suggests someone may have set her up, raising questions about whether Michael could have planted the gun to secure custody of the kids.

Michael

Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael (Rory Gibson) once had an idyllic marriage and were raising their two children, Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia (Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko). Slowly, an attraction grew between Willow and Michael’s uncle, Drew (Cameron Mathison). They shared a kiss on the 4th of July in 2024. That led to another kiss, then actually sleeping together in the Quartermaine mansion…in the nursery! Michael found out thanks to the nanny cam video. He ended up playing it for the other Quartermaines in front of a horrified Willow and Nina (Cynthia Watros). Drew was also there.

‘Obviously, that act broke up the marriage, and Michael vowed to win full custody of his kids, which, after a court battle with Willow, he was victorious in keeping the children under his care. He actually forbade Willow from seeing the kids due to her erratic behavior, which was on public display on numerous occasions. Willow finally realized that if she was with Drew, there was no way she would get custody, so they broke up. In the meantime, the judge originally in charge of the custody hearing was murdered, which pushed back the date to January for the new custody hearing. Willow became increasingly desperate and continued her downward spiral. It became more evident that Michael needed to keep her away from the kids.

Cut to Drew’s shooting, and half of the town had a motive to shoot him. Top of the list were Michael, Carly, Willow, Nina, and others. If somehow the shooting could be attributed to Willow, Michael would surely hold on to his kids. He visited Elizabeth on a recent episode, which gave him ample opportunity to plant the gun. In fact, Willow was arrested during a supervised visit with the kids and Michael. She vowed that she had no idea how the gun got into her room, because it had previously been housed in Edward’s study. Did Michael confiscate the gun and plant it in Willow’s room?

Carly

Carly (Laura Wright) has been known to do some less-than-legal things to protect her children. Since the day Michael was born, Carly Corinthos has done whatever it takes to protect her children from Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) dangerous mob world. She’s lied, hidden Michael, and even risked her life to shield him from rival families. After Michael was shot in a hit meant for Sonny, Carly’s guilt pushed her to work even harder to keep her family safe from violence. Years later, she saw right through Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) manipulations and fought to expose the truth, even when it meant losing Michael’s trust or being framed and institutionalized.

When it comes to Josslyn, Carly Corinthos’s protective instincts have always been unstoppable. She moved her daughter from place to place to escape danger — from the Balkans’ threats to Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) deadly plots — and later clashed with Nelle when she set her sights on the family. Carly also faced every mother’s nightmare when Josslyn was diagnosed with kidney failure as a baby, refusing to rest until she found a donor. That relentless search led to the shocking twist that Nelle, Josslyn’s half-sister, had saved her life.

Carly’s youngest daughter, Donna, was born during a particularly dangerous time for Sonny. Carly refused to let mob threats touch her baby — she kept their home heavily guarded and made sure Donna was surrounded by family and security.

She recognized early on that her son, Morgan, was struggling with the same bipolar disorder as his father and fought to get him the help he needed. She pushed for therapy, medication, and stability, even when Morgan resisted, and pleaded with him to stay far from Sonny’s dangerous world. Carly clashed with Sonny over keeping Morgan out of the mob and did everything she could to protect him from being manipulated by others, including Kiki (Hayley Erin) and Ava Jerome. When Morgan’s behavior spiraled, Carly sensed something was terribly wrong with his medication — unaware Ava had tampered with it. Her worst fears came true when Morgan was killed in a car explosion meant for someone else, leaving Carly heartbroken and enraged. Haunted by guilt and grief, she vowed never to let her remaining children be pulled into the same deadly cycle.

Is it a stretch to think she would protect Michael from being arrested for shooting Drew? She also visited Elizabeth’s house and was left alone when Elizabeth went upstairs to take a call from her plumber. Sonny’s no-nonsense lawyer, Diane (Carolyn Hennesy), was already wise to the fact that both Carly and Michael would do whatever it took to escape being a suspect, and they both want Willow gone and out of their lives.

Someone Else

Speculation has been running rampant that maybe it was Ronnie, the late Monica’s (Leslie Charleson) never-before-mentioned sister. Maybe Nelle is back from the dead, trying to get back at Michael and Carly, and even though they were there, Nelle could have easily snuck into the house to not only steal the gun from the Quartermaines but also could have slipped into Elizabeth’s.

Who do you think planted the gun? Did they do it to divert attention from their own guilt of shooting Drew? Or do you think Willow is actually the one who shot? Sound off in the comments below!
