General Hospital Warns Viewers of ‘Difficult’ Episode Amid Los Angeles Fires

A current storyline in Port Charles has been ill-timed with the ongoing fires in Los Angeles, and General Hospital offered viewers a must-read warning.

‘Difficult To Watch’

After the fires in Los Angeles that began on January 7, 2025, GH made a statement on social media about the devastation in LA and how the January 8, 2025 episode may affect some viewers.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires currently raging in Los Angeles County,” the post began. “In light of current events, today’s episode of General Hospital (and several that follow) may prove too difficult to watch for some. Please keep this in consideration prior to tuning in.”

The episode shows the aftermath of Monday, January 6’s cliffhanger when Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse was set on fire and Michael (Chad Duell) was engulfed in flames. The scenes depict Michael on fire, Jason (Steve Burton) helping to put out the flames, and a severely burned Michael at the hospital.

While Michael’s family rallied at GH, Lucas (Van Hansis) informed them that Michael suffered third-degree burns and may not make it, which explains why several future episodes of GH may be difficult to watch for viewers affected by the LA fires.

Real-Life Devastation

While Port Charles deals with its fictional fire, many are living through the real-life devastation in Los Angeles, including Cameron Mathison (Drew, GH, ex-Ryan, All My Children), who documented the aftermath of losing his home.

“We are safe, but this is what’s left of our beautiful home,” Mathison captioned a video of his property, flames still surrounding it.

Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, GH) also offered an update to assure fans she was safe from the fires.
