On the January 13, 2025, episode of General Hospital, Tracy gave an unfortunate update on Monica, whose portrayer, Leslie Charleson, passed away on January 12.
The Quartermaine Matriarch
While Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) managed to save Michael (Chad Duell, whose recent appearance on State of Mind did not go as planned) from a digitalis overdose, and Cody (Josh Kelly) made the poor decision to bet his hush money from Drew (Cameron Mathison) on the upcoming PCU game, there was one conversation happening in Port Charles that was much more important.
Stella (Vernee Watson) arrived at the Quartermaine Mansion to catch up with Tracy (Jane Elliot) over smoothies, though Tracy decided tea was much more suited for her. Stella let Tracy complain about the child takeover at the mansion, allowing for her to then confide in her friend about grieving Baby Irene.

Things took a heartbreaking turn when Tracy noted, “I’m worried about Monica.” Tracy went on to explain that her frenemy’s health had been declining since suffering a fall last year, and she worried that the possibility of losing Michael could be fatal. The conversation came at a bittersweet moment as the GH cast, crew, and viewers mourn the loss of Charleson, who played Monica for nearly 50 years.
“I see her losing that spark, that feistiness. My favorite sparring partner has dimmed. Stella, I miss her,” Tracy admitted. “She is what holds this family together. I don’t know what we’ll do if she can’t keep us together.”
While Stella assured Tracy that she will step up as the Quartermaine matriarch, Tracy’s words about Monica imply that GH is already preparing to say goodbye to its longest-running cast member.
