The Real Reason Kristina is Sonny’s True Heir On General Hospital

For the first few years of Kristina’s life on General Hospital, Sonny didn’t even know that she was his daughter. (Though you’d think he’d have guessed. Having slept with Alexis once, he had to know he’d win any inevitably Daddy sweepstakes down the line.) Once the truth came out, Sonny was happy to puff out his chest at having fathered another child, but Kristina was never as important to him as his biological sons, Morgan and Dante, and adopted (and favorite) son, Michael. But the worm has turned over the past few months, and now it looks like Kristina may be the one best positioned to take over Sonny’s empire…and his emotional space in Port Charles.

Where Have All the Flowers Gone?

Things aren’t going well for Sonny (Maurice Benard) and his sons. Morgan (Bryan Craig) is presumed dead. Dante (Dominic Zapronga) has his hands full mourning Sam (Kelly Monaco), getting reacquainted with Lulu (Alexa Havins), and, overall, you know, still being on the side of truth, justice, and the non-mafia way.

Even Michael (Chad Duell) isn’t worshipping Sonny the way that he used to. He’s got his hands full cheating…and being cheated on. Which means Sonny is short of heirs. But then…

A Chip Off the Old Mob

…Kristina (Kate Mansi) fully came into her own. For years, Kristina was the screw-up, the one who couldn’t get her life together, the one that no one would depend on. But, most recently, that particular character trait of hers has been inching more and more in the Sonny direction.

Like Dear Old Dad, Kristina isn’t only doing awful things now, but she is justifying them as necessary things she did for the benefit of others. Nothing is ever her fault; her bugs are actually features, and anyone who has irked her in any way deserves to suffer.

Revenge Rerun

Kristina can’t remember if Ava (Maura West) actually pushed her and caused the death of Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and TJ’s (Tajh Bellow) baby, but just in case, let’s take her to court. And if that fails — have her killed.

Sonny killed Jagger? Obviously, he deserved it. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) went to prison for it? It’s better than Sonny actually having to pay for his actions. Kristina is turning into Daddy’s Mini-Me, which makes her the perfect person to take over his criminal empire…and his place in Port Charles’ heart.
