Word is out that General Hospital perpetual amnesiac Jason Morgan has a “significant memory” this week, lighting social media on fire as we all wonder what this significant memory could possibly be. After all, after living two completely separate lives over the years, the possibilities are practically endless.
Might Jason remember a moment with Sam that sends him running back into her arms (FINALLY!) bringing Jasam fans to their knees with joy? Or, will it be a moment with Liz that sends the Liason fans onto a party bus?
So far, most fans speculate Jason will remember that time Sam watched Little Jake’s kidnapping and just let it happen. That speculation comes from both “sides” in the seemingly-eternal debate over who Jason belongs with. Jasam fans dread this memory while Liason fans embrace it, but that doesn’t seem right to us. We can’t put our fingers on why, but we don’t think the Jake kidnapping is what GH plans to give us and Jason’s addled brain.
We do know whatever this memory happens to be, it will have a profound effect on Jason and make him re-think how he feels about himself. That makes us think he either has a memory of himself in his long life as Sonny’s enforcer, a memory that shows his loving, caring, and giving side with Sam–or something completely different.
If he sees himself in the role of hitman, he won’t like himself very much and may not want to know more about his past life. If he sees himself as a kind and caring person, maybe he’ll want to learn more and try to learn more. Will he remember when Baby Lila died? Perhaps he’ll remember the last night at the penthouse with Sam when they brought Danny home. He could even remember playing hero and rescuing Danny from the roof the night before he disappeared. Like we said, with so many years and two different lives, this significant memory can come from anywhere in the recesses of his mind.
Which brings us to what Soap Hub wants Jason to remember (and we’re not saying this will happen). We’d love to see a memory with Monica–PRE-1995–meaning a Jason Quartermaine memory. We’ve never believed they were truly gone and Billy Miller’s take on Jason is a mix of both characters. Jason doesn’t have to remember his lovers for it to be significant. Maybe he’ll just remember his mother.
