Tabyana Ali is answering her fans’ burning questions. They want to know what it’s like to be on a soap opera, and the General Hospital star finally answered that question in a new social media post. She wanted to give them a glimpse into daily life, and it’s not as easy as it looks.
Day In The Life
Ali posted a new Reel on Instagram. One of the questions she gets asked the most is what it’s like to be on a soap opera. So, she finally answered that burning question for her fans. Ali looked cozy as she sat in bed and held a cup of tea. While she’s blessed to be part of the ABC soap, she admits it’s not always easy.
“It’s probably one of the greatest gifts I have ever received, and then I realized that God was actually laughing at me because I didn’t book a show,” Ali continued. “I booked a boot camp. Soap operas are not for the faint of heart.”
There are days when they film “one to five episodes.” On average, soap actors film “10 scenes in an hour.” They have a lot of material to cover, and they only “have one take to get it right.” Ali calls the soap opera genre the “best acting school there is” because you get thrown to the wolves.

An Attitude Of Gratitude
Despite the hard work, Ali is grateful to be part of the show. She is grateful that she gets to share her many gifts and learn new skills. “I’m grateful to be part of General Hospital, not just as an actor but as a writer, director, and communicator,” she added. Then, she offered up some words of wisdom for aspiring actors. She told them not to “overlook soaps.”
“They’ll teach you more about the craft and yourself than you ever imagine,” Ali shared. In her caption, she wrote: “Being on General Hospital has been such an amazing ride! So thankful for the cast, crew, and all of you who make this experience even more special. Love being part of this family!❤️”
GH fans also expressed their appreciation in the comment section. “Well said,” one fan wrote. Another user agreed, commenting, “This was so beautifully said. Well done.” Some fans are impressed with how easy soap actors make it look. “You make it look easy, but y’all are literally roughing it from the start! WOW! Had no idea how much work went into airing a daily soap.”
Some fans noted that some of the finest actors in Hollywood who are up for an Oscar this year got their start in soaps. This genre could lead to some incredible opportunities.
