Since his return to General Hospital in March, Steve Burton has been reflecting on his past and present as Jason, from a scene that almost made him walk off set to his hopes for working with his TV mom again soon. But on a recent podcast episode, the actor revealed something he says is never happening again on GH.
Merry Christmas
During a live episode of the Daily Drama podcast, which Burton hosts with GH co-star Bradford Anderson, the actors touched on a recent scene between Burton and Rebecca Herbst. “Jason and Elizabeth just cooling their paws in the pools,” Anderson recalled. “How did that come around?”
Burton was silent for a moment before answering. “This is the thing: they write it, you do it,” he simply said. “I wasn’t a fan of it.”
Burton revealed he asked whether or not he really needed to sit poolside barefoot, to which TPTB told him they wanted him to. “I said, ‘Okay… Merry Christmas,'” he joked. “Because this will never happen again.”
Friendship
Anderson went on to call the scenes beautiful, while Burton spoke about the meaning behind the Liason scene.
“It was really about the friendship,” Burton spoke of the scene between Jason and Liz after he found her fighting with a drunken Finn (Michael Easton). “The intention behind the scene was great,” he said before going on to admit he didn’t think sitting in the pool was something Jason would do.
Coming up on GH, Jason and Elizabeth will meet to discuss Jake (Hudson West), who had called Jason to come to his mom’s rescue that night with Finn.
