After the tragic news of the death of Johnny Wactor, who played Brando on General Hospital from 2020-2022, two GH stars paid tribute to their late castmate on a new episode of their podcast.
Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson co-host the Daily Drama podcast, and paid tribute to Wactor by re-airing their episode with the actor from 2020, titling it “A Tribute to Johnny Wactor.” Anderson noted they had already recorded an episode for this week, but “in light of recent events, we’re going to save that for next week, and this week, share our first episode that we ever recorded with our friend Johnny Wactor.”
Wactor was fatally shot in Los Angeles over Memorial Day weekend after catching three men trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car. It was reported the actor had stepped in front of a female coworker to protect her when he was shot and killed. Several GH stars have paid tribute to Wactor since the news broke of his passing.
The actors began the episode by remembering their friend, with Burton immediately in tears. “It’s just not right,” he began. “What struck me the most about Johnny was this guy was a true gentleman,” he continued, calling him “a throwback to what a gentleman was.”
“There was a strength about him,” Anderson shared. “You felt his capableness, you felt his compassion, you felt his empathy, you felt his incredible presence.”
“I know if I call Johnny, regardless, he’d be there,” Burton recalled. “And that says a lot about someone’s character.”
“We do have to mourn people, but we also have to celebrate people like this,” Button finished before their 2020 episode with Wactor aired.
