Don’t you love it when your favorite daytime actors pop up in primetime and streaming series? Imagine our surprise when we spotted General Hospital‘s Vernee Watson in the trailer for the upcoming second season of the Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking.
Apple TV+ Comedy Shrinking
Shrinking stars Harrison Ford (Paul), Jason Segel (Jimmy), Jessica Williams (Gaby), Christa Miller (Liz), and more. According to Apple TV+, the show “follows a grieving therapist who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives…including their own.”

While there’s currently no word on who Vernee Watson will be playing, it looks like she may be involved in Williams’s story. In this Screen Rant interview, Williams mentions dealing with her baggage with her family, specifically her mom and sister. So maybe Watson will play the therapist’s mother in season two?

Watson, who also plays Aunt Stella on GH, continues to jump between primetime and daytime. Currently, the Daytime Emmy Winner for Best Guest Performer has forged a developing friendship with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). Plus, she’s helping TJ (Tajh Bellow) and the family recover from losing Baby Irene.

In addition to her soap gig, Watson appeared on Peacock’s dramatic reimagining of the classic hit-com Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (where Watson originally played Aunt Vy back in the ’90s). She also wrapped a five-season stint on the CBS comedy Bob Hearts Abishola earlier this year.
The second season of Shrinking begins on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, October 16. You still have time to catch up on the ten-episode first season of the comedy. It’s a worthy and quick binge.
