Sonny Just Ended A Relationship On General Hospital…And Not Just With Nina

As everyone in Port Charles begins cutting ties with Sonny on General Hospital, the April 22, 2024 episode showed the mobster ending a cherished relationship…and it wasn’t with Nina.

End Of An Era

After learning Carly (Laura Wright) was co-owner of the Metro Court again thanks to Jason (Steve Burton), Sonny (Maurice Benard) tore into his ex once again for betraying him. He accused her of refusing his financial help just to accept Jason’s, to which she simply said, “Yeah, that’s pretty much it.”

They each accused each other of rewriting history with their failed marriage, Carly reminding him he jumped into bed with Nina (Cynthia Watros, who was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award), while Sonny sees it as Carly who ended things. Their confrontation only got more heated as Michael’s (Chad Duell) and Dex’s (Evan Hofer) betrayals were brought into it, and they each agreed they barely recognize each other anymore.

“Is this really how it ends for us, Sonny?” Carly asked, remembering all their years of history. “This is it,” Sonny decided. “Out of all the people I thought would abandon me, I never thought you would,” he said before walking away.

End Of A Marriage

Meanwhile, after a confrontation with Ava (Maura West) over her attempts at getting closer to Sonny, Nina gave in and finally did what she had been putting off. She threw down Sonny’s divorce and tearfully signed her name, handing them to Nina saying, “Sonny’s all yours.”

After a montage of memories between Sonny and Nina, she decided to take off her ring and asked her assistant to have it sent to Sonny’s penthouse.
