In the Tuesday, January 13 episode of General Hospital, Alexis was in a very difficult position. She knew the truth about Willow. She didn’t believe Trina and Kai’s story about what happened the night of Drew’s shooting immediately. Instead, she checked the phone records and saw that Wiley did indeed call his mom during the time someone shot Drew in the back twice. Alexis had to decide what to do with this knowledge. Tell the truth and let justice prevail, yet potentially be disbarred? Or do nothing and give the closing argument she was going to give before she learned the truth.

Key Takeaways

  • Alexis learns the truth about Willow before delivering her closing argument.
  • A brutal choice looms: tell the truth and risk disbarment—or stay silent.
  • Alexis chooses silence, potentially clearing Willow and shifting the fallout.

What Happened on GH

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) knew she was in a Catch-22 situation. And she needed Diane’s help to hash things out and figure out what to do next. Stay silent, and go with her original plan of presenting the best closing argument. Or reveal the truth and cause a mistrial and potentially be disbarred. According to Diane (Carolyn Hennesy, who has finally returned to GH), Alexis’s disbarment would be permanent this time.

Alexis looked and sounded a hundred percent sure that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) was guilty. That she had used her sweet nurse persona to fool everyone. Of course, Alexis thought she did this solely to get rid of Drew (Cameron Mathison) so she could get her kids back. She couldn’t possibly think that Willow did it to frame Michael (Rory Gibson) so she could get her kids back that way.

Diane and Alexis talked about the ethics of the situation. And they discussed the Scout (Cosette Abinante) of it all. If Alexis told the truth, then Drew would undoubtedly prevent Scout from seeing her family ever again. However, if she stayed silent, then a woman who shot the man that she married would be an integral force in Scout’s life.

Alexis may have been sure of Willow’s guilt. But she wasn’t sure what the right thing to do in this situation was. However, in the courtroom, Acting DA Turner (Nazneen Contractor) presented all the facts of her case against Willow. And it pretty much sounded like how it really went down.

And then when Alexis presented her closing argument, she went for the feels. She painted a picture of a woman being framed, simply wanting to see her children again. Alexis stayed silent. Nobody on that jury or in that courtroom would learn the truth from her.

Why It Matters for Alexis

Staying silent matters for Alexis because this way she will be able to continue protecting Scout. Drew won’t keep his daughter away from Alexis, Molly (Kristen Vaganos), and Kristina (Kate Mansi). The only person who will continue to be hurt by Drew’s tyrannical ways regarding Scout is Danny (Asher Antonyzyn).

Staying silent also matters for Alexis because tanking her case against Willow at the last minute is unethical. Attorneys, especially defense attorneys, have to represent their clients to the best of their abilities, despite their apparent guilt. There was the very real reality that if Alexis had revealed the truth that she would be disbarred.

But there’s also the matter of her teeing up a strong case against Michael. This will weigh on Alexis’s conscience for a very long time. Hopefully, she’ll find a legal way to help Michael out after the verdict is read.

The Fallout for Willow and Michael

Alexis knew that if she stayed silent, the jury would probably acquit Willow. They have just started deliberating. But Willow was so convincing on the stand that there is more than a good chance that they will come back with a not guilty verdict. She may be acquitted, but she won’t be innocent. Far from it.

However, an acquittal means she may be able to get visitation with her kids, and potentially joint custody. Although knowing her, she could even go for full custody. She will use Drew as long as possible to get her kids back.

Meanwhile, Alexis is afraid that Michael may be in serious trouble if Willow is found not guilty. The police may direct their investigation towards him after the hatchet job Alexis did on him during the trial. If Willow and Drew have their way, Michael will be toast if Willow is acquitted.
