Laura (Genie Francis) has been thrown at the front burner of GH ever since the night of the Port Charles election. First, she unexpectedly won the re-election for mayor, then everything came crashing down when she discovered dead Dalton’s (Daniel Goddard) body in her trunk. Now, she’s being forced to choose between her guilty conscience, her friendship with Sonny (Maurice Benard), and Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) orders. And who best to remind her of that than her dead brother and Ace’s dead mother?
During a nightmare on the couch, Laura was first visited by Cyrus (Jeff Kober), who reminded her of how important it was to see the error of her ways. He even had the gun that was used to shoot Dalton, and suggested she turn herself in.
Then appeared Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl), who was just as snarky beyond the grave as she was when she was alive. She started blaming Laura for everything that happened to her, then told her that she was certainly no longer fit to raise Ace.
When Laura finally woke up and Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) returned home, she told him about her nightmare, and he put on his psychiatrist cap to tell her that it was all her conscience speaking. But then she revealed what’s actually weighing on her: the risk to Sonny if she were to go to the police.
Sonny did what Sonny does best and got rid of the body for her, and she knows that if she goes to the police now, it will expose Sonny for the mobster he is. Meanwhile, Sonny was in the middle of his own battle with Sidwell after the crime lord revealed the photos to him. By the end, Sonny and Laura were on the phone, ready to take on their mutual enemy.
General Hospital spoilers for December 8 tease another issue at hand: Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) breaking into Carly’s (Laura Wright) house. She may be the only ally he has in Port Charles right now, and there’s no telling what will happen if they’re able to plot against Brennan (Chris McKenna) in close quarters.
