Lately, it seems General Hospital is getting back to its glory days – no, not the 80s – but the early 2000s. Between a beloved character’s return, some supercouples reunited, and one character’s unexpected career change, here’s how GH is about to right a bunch of recent wrongs.

Wrongs Righted In The Past

This wouldn’t be the first time GH has righted wrongs. Some of the most notable were, of course, bringing characters back from the dead whose deaths were devastating to both Port Charles and viewers. This was best done in 2015 when Jake (Hudson West) was revealed to be alive and being held on Cassadine Island. The character had previously been killed in 2011 during a hit-and-run that was evidently caused by Luke (Tony Geary).

Another wrong GH quickly fixed was the way they recast Jason in 2014. Recasting a legendary character is always risky, and while viewers loved watching the late Billy Miller in Port Charles, it wasn’t the same as Steve Burton’s iconic portrayal. Once Burton returned to the show in 2017, GH decided that Burton’s character was the real Jason, while Miller’s character was actually his brainwashed twin brother Drew.

Current Wrongs

Some things have felt wrong in Port Charles for a while, starting with breaking up some of the show’s iconic supercouples. Sonny (Maurice Benard) choosing Nina (Cynthia Watros) over Carly (Laura Wright) made many viewers see red, while Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) cat-and-mouse game with their relationship has been frustrating, to say the least.

For Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), her life hasn’t been the same since her disbarment after losing it in 2019 when she lied to the medical board about having a relationship with her therapist, Neil (Joe Flanigan). Watching this talented lawyer turn into the editor of The Invader has been cringy at times, and seemingly less fulfilling for the character.

As for Jason (Steve Burton), everyone knew his story couldn’t be over when his portrayer was let go from the soap in 2021. After a tunnel collapsed onto him, Jason was presumed dead, leaving his loved ones mourning him once again.

How They’re Being Righted

The most obvious of all these righted wrongs has been Spixie’s long-awaited reunion. Spinelli and Maxie have always been meant for each other, and it’s taken the show far too long to get things going between them again. On the CarSon front, however, things might take a little longer for them with Ava (Maura West) pursuing Sonny and Carly being too focused on Jason’s return, but loyal GH viewers know that Sonny will always be endgame for Carly and things are headed in a positive direction for the supercouple.

Just when we thought Alexis had been put on the back burner, Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) came to the rescue when she offered her best friend a way to get her law license back possibly. Odds are it won’t be smooth sailing for the former lawyer, but this is the clearest case of righting a wrong.

It took two and a half years, but Jason is finally back in Port Charles where he belongs, and is slowly but surely reuniting with both friends and foes. Time will tell how Jason’s story will play out this time around, but what we know for sure is that this fan favorite is back for at least two years.
