Here’s news Noah Drake fans should be happy about. Rick Springfield is taking part in General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars & Storytelling special which airs tonight.
Rick Springfield: Remembering Noah and Bobbie
“I went in and did a short talk on Jackie Zeman,” Springfield tells Soap Hub, adding he was quick to say “yes” when approached with the opportunity. “You don’t have something in common with every single person you work with, but Jackie was always the one I saw after I left the show,” he said.
“I was very happy to go in and do a short memorial to her,” the singer/actor, best known for his hit song “Jessie’s Girl,” continued. “I certainly felt I owed her that.”
Noah and Bobbie were hot and heavy in Port Charles until the relationship was destroyed by Ms. Spencer faking blindness to keep the playboy by her side. Still, the couple remains one of GH’s most popular ever.
Springfield, who is currently on tour to support his latest album, “Automatic,” made sure to find the time to honor his long-time friend.
“Jackie was responsible for me getting the gig,” Springfield said. “I did the screen test with her and Gloria Monty, the genius behind GH’s huge success in the ’80s, and she asked her who was the right guy for the part, and she said me. So, she was responsible for that success for me. I owe her a great deal.”
Zeman passed away on May 10, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars & Storytelling airs Thursday, January 4 on ABC at 10 p.m. ET/PT. It will be available for viewing a day later on streaming platform Hulu.
