From assaulting Cyrus to beating Dex, it’s been a long time coming that Sonny pays for his crimes on General Hospital. As the news of Sonny’s latest crime traveled through Port Charles on the May 22, 2024 episode, everyone was divided about whether the mobster should finally get what’s coming to him.
When Sonny (Maurice Benard) went to visit Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) asking him to put in a good word for him with Kristina (Kate Mansi) after she witnessed him beating Dex (Evan Hofer), Dante realized he can no longer keep defending his father’s actions. Dante’s torn feelings for his father already caused him to attempt to turn in his badge, but he ultimately decided he should remain a cop.
Dante tore into Sonny about not protecting him anymore and admitted he’s reached his limit with him. “You committed a come and not you have to face the consequences of that crime!” he shouted at his father.
After Michael met with Kristina and they came to the decision that it would be best for Sonny’s crimes to be ignored, he went to see Dex and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) at the park and asked him not to press charges against his father. Dex immediately defended his right to press charges, and when Michael worried it would be too much for Kristina to have to testify against Sonny as a witness, Dex countered, “When is it too much for me?”
Josslyn agreed it was Dex’s decision and that Sonny should be punished, but also knew it might be too much for Kristina and the baby. When Kristina later called Dex over, she admitted she’s had blinders on for Sonny and offered to testify against him if Dex pressed charges.
Do you think pressing charges might help get through to Sonny? Let us know in the comments.
