Johnny Wactor, who played Brando on General Hospital, was killed last weekend after coming upon three men in downtown Los Angeles who were attempting to steal his catalytic convertor. The late actor’s mother spoke out on her brave son. And Soap Hub has info on a GoFundMe set up to help the Wactor family.
Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, and his two brothers, Lance and Grant, were interviewed on The TODAY SHOW, where they shared memories of their late loved one and provided details about the crime that took his life.
“I use the word hero,” Mother said, referring to her son standing in between the man who shot him and Wactor’s female co-worker. “I’m thankful that that person is OK — and that when he died, he wasn’t alone.”
At press time, no arrests had been made. The Los Angeles Police Department is searching for three men. They were described as wearing dark clothing and driving a dark-colored sedan.
“I think they are cowards,” Scarlett Wactor shared. “As a parent, you never expect to bury a child.”
A GoFundMe has been set up by Wactor’s godmother, Michaele Kinard. “On May 25, my dearest and best friend’s son was murdered. He was the victim of the most senseless crime!” Kinard wrote.
“Early Saturday morning, Johnny was leaving his evening job with a coworker when they came upon 3 guys attempting to steal his catalytic converter. He thought he was going to be towed and said, ‘Am I being towed?’ The person stood up with a mask on and said nothing and shot him. Johnny was the kindest soul. My heart is utterly broken, and somehow, we NEED justice for Johnny!
“I want to raise money for his mother, Scarlett, and his brothers, Lance and Grant to be able to travel the distance of 2000 miles (the many times it may take) to take care of this heartbreaking business, which they have been sentenced. With God‘s will, the killer will be arrested, and the family will see him face to face. This may help bring closure to this tragedy. Any excess donations will be donated to the charities the family chooses in memory of Johnny.”
Grant Wactor shared memories of his brother with People. “He was a good person,” Grant Wactor said. “He was taken way too early, and no one should be taken like this at all. He touched a lot of people. He believed in his core values to the end, and he lived life to the fullest the way he wanted to. And he was happy doing that.”
