Since its Luke and Laura days, General Hospital has been known for its action-packed scenes, but sometimes, they can turn graphic. From a blazing fire to a purposeful drowning, these disturbing GH moments have never left viewers’ minds.

Trigger Warning: This article contains mentions of sexual assault and suicide. For the National Sexual Assault Hotline, call 800-656-HELP. For the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, call 988.

Michael On Fire

From the second the scenes were previewed, fans immediately noted how disturbing it was to watch Michael (Chad Duell) engulfed in flames as an explosive went off in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse on the January 6, 2025 episode. Between Michael being a beloved character both on and off screen, and the episodes coinciding with the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, the scenes were so intense, GH offered viewers a warning before they aired.

Kristina’s Fall

Kristina (Kate Mansi) losing the baby she was carrying for Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and TJ (Tajh Bellow) was tough enough, but the way it happened shocked viewers. Not only was Kristina seen falling out a window of the Metro Court, but the sight of her plunging pregnancy bump-first into the pool, covered in blood, was something most viewers still can’t get out of their heads since the August 2024 episode aired.

Robin’s Suicide Attempt

After Robin (ex-Kimberly McCullough) gave birth to Emma, the months that followed proved incredibly difficult for the new mom. Despite Patrick (ex-Jason Thompson) by her side to help raise their daughter, Robin suffered from what turned into life-threatening postpartum depression. On April 3, 2009, it became too much to bear as Robin jumped in the harbor and her unconscious body floated in the water until Patrick found her and ultimately saved her life.

Michael’s Prison Assault

It came as a shock to both viewers and Michael’s family when he was given a prison sentence in 2010 for acting in self-defense by murdering Claudia (ex-Sarah Joy Brown). But the tragic turn of events for Michael didn’t stop there. The moment he arrived at Pentonville, he was approached by a man who was hired by Franco (then-James Franco) to sexually assault him as a way of hurting Jason. The scenes graphically depicted the man closing in on a bent-over Michael and unzipping his pants, alluding to the prison assault that Michael later revealed.
