Maxie’s still devastated, of course, over the death of her beloved Nathan, her husband and the father of her unborn child, on General Hospital. She’s not going to be ready for a new romance anytime soon because she needs to go through the grieving process.
GH fans recall, of course, before Det. Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) came onto the scene, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) was romantically involved with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson).
And with Ellie (Emily Wilson) being off-screen and out of the picture, perhaps, in time, Maxie and Spinelli will reunite? However, first Maxie needs to mourn Nathan. And Storms needs to mourn losing her acting partner of many years.
“I knew Ryan was leaving two months before the scripts started coming out about his death,” Storms said at the recent General Hospital Convention. “I was bummed he was going to go because I’ve worked with him more than anyone else. My second thought was, ‘Damn! These are going to be some good scenes!'”
“It’s always difficult when someone who’s playing your romantic interest leaves or they separate you because you’ve been seeing that person more than do you your family or friends. Ryan and I had become good buddies. He was in the dressing room next to me and I could always tell when he was in there.”
All that said, Storms is embracing her professional future without Paevey. However, Spinelli may have to get in line because Maxie’s spending time with Peter (Wes Ramsey) these days.
“I’m excited to have a storyline with people I wouldn’t normally work with like Wes Ramsey,” Storms says. “He’s an amazing addition to the cast and he’s trained amazingly well.”
As far as moving on from Nathan, Storms feels it should be a while.
“There were a few moments when I’d read the script and I’d think, ‘I can’t believe she’s saying that,'” Storms says. “This a little soon. Nathan’s body is still warm! (But) they are giving me some dialogue as to why I’m spending so much time with Peter.”
“If they could have given me anyone to work with on the show, I would have picked Wes because he’s such a good actor. It’s truly a joy to work with him.”
But what about Spinelli? It would make great sense for Spinelli and Maxie to reunite, eventually, no?
As far as Anderson is concerned, he just wants to be in scenes with Storms whether or not their characters romantically reunite.
“I don’t care if it’s legal, romantic, or platonic,” Anderson says about Spinelli and Maxie. “If we’re in the same room together, Bradford’s happy!”
