Veering off his usual script of releasing a new State Of Mind video podcast on Sunday, General Hospital star Maurice Benard dropped his latest installment, complete with a new opening sequence, on Wednesday with YouTube sensation GloZell and this episode did not disappoint.
Maurice Benard Talks To GloZell
As the actor who brings Sonny to life promoted on his official Instagram account, “[GloZell] has over 700 million views on [YouTube] because of the #cinnamonchallenge. [GloZell] interviewed [Barack Obama] & has a great story about [Elijah Wood]. What struck me is how quickly she started interviewing me & we talked about things I have never spoken about regarding bipolar disorder on [State Of Mind]. We also discuss [Sonya Eddy].
GloZell Lyneette Green created her YouTube channel back in 2008, which to date has over 2.58 million subscribers — a feat that Benard was blown away by. She also has over 2.3 thousand videos, with her Cinnamon Challenge being the one that went viral with over 53 million views — and as she told the host after he asked what it was like — it almost literally killed her.
“I felt like…okay, I’m gonna die. This is going to be the dumbest way ever to die — and I’m filming myself,” she began as Benard laughed. “So I’m choking to death. I’m half-laughing, crying cause I’m like, ‘Oh, I get the challenge now, and I did too much. I did too much.'” She talks about drinking water and how it turned to paste after that. “I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m dead right now.'” She then started hallucinating after that, but it’s her endearing delivery of it all that had the host in stitches. You can’t help but root for her.
But as sometimes happens with people who rise fast, they can plummet just as quickly. GloZell discusses her many highs — which included an amazing experience interviewing President Barack Obama (giving him a surprise gift when she was told not to), an encounter with actor Elijah Wood on a desolate road that was so shocking, he told the story on Jimmy Kimmel, and how she got so well known herself that people started coming to her with voiceover jobs. She also talked about her struggle to have her daughter, how she paid for IVF treatments, what she did to make sure she put food on the table for her, and so much more. You can watch the entire entertaining episode here.
Each story will have you laughing or crying as she reveals more and more of what has gained her so many followers around the world. If you want to know more about her and see her videos, visit her YouTube Channel and follow her on Instagram.
