Marcus Coloma assumed the role of Nikolas Cassadine in the fall of 2019 and has been mostly on the front burner ever since his debut. Now, the actor’s time in Port Charles has come to an end.

UPDATE: GH confirms to Soap Hub that Marcus Coloma will no longer be playing the role of Nikolas Cassadine. He’s set to make his last appearance in late January.
Online rumors that the actor had exited the ABC show began swirling when people noticed on Monday, December 12, 2022, that he was no longer following the soap’s official sites nor his co-stars. Now, Daytime Confidential is reporting that, according to set-side insiders, the actor is out. DC also states that he “reportedly declined to film his final scenes after learning he’d been let go.”
The role of Nikolas was originated as a teenager by Tyler Christopher in 1996 as the “awful” secret that Laura (Genie Francis) had kept from her husband at the time, Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). Not only did his existence explain a little bit about what happened to Laura during the time Port Charles (and Luke) had believed her to be dead, but he was also the answer to their prayers — he could donate his bone marrow to a very sick Lulu.

Christopher left the very popular role in 1999 and was replaced by Coltin Scott. Christopher was invited back to the show in 2003 to resume the part of Nikolas, and he stayed with the show until 2011. He rejoined the show two years later and stayed on GH until 2016. After Tyler’s exit, Nick Stabile stepped in as Nik, and later, the character was believed to have been shot to death by Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) as he tumbled out a window.
During Halloween of 2019, a man removed his mask to confront Ava Jerome (Maura West) — that’s when Coloma made his GH debut. Nikolas had faked his death much to the displeasure of his loved ones who mourned him. Ava and Nik continued to spark, and the couple eventually married — though they’ve spent more time being on the verge of divorce than actually being happy. So what does his exit mean for the future of Nikolas? There is no word yet on what the show plans to do.
