Why GH’s Anna Devane and Valentin Cassadine Shouldn’t Judge Holly

It’s a parent thing.

No one is arguing that Holly Sutton has done a bad thing on General Hospital. Putting on an Anna Devane mask and framing her for the murder of Lucy Coe on the orders of Victor Cassadine is most definitely a very bad thing. And, when the truth comes out, Anna has every right to be angry. But not too angry. Here’s why.

Anna Devane Fireside Chat

Remember how right before they had sex, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) poured themselves some wine, cuddled up in front of a roaring fire…and discussed how they would be willing the kill the other…if it meant protecting their precious daughters, Robin Scorpio Drake (Kimberly McCullough) and Charlotte Cassadine, respectively.

What’s Good For the GH Goose

We hope that Anna and Valentin will remember precisely how they felt in that moment when the truth comes out about Holly’s (Emma Samms) role in Anna’s going on the run. Yes, Holly lied. Not just to Anna and Valentin, but also to Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers), as well.

But she lied because Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) had already murdered her half-sister, the nearly identical to Holly Paloma (yes, we did know of her before, she was played by Samms in a bad wig, and dated Bill Eckert [Anthony Geary], Luke Spencer’s [Anthony Geary] nearly identical cousin). And now Victor was threatening to do the same to Holly’s son, Ethan Lovett (Nathan Parsons).

Is Good For the General Hospital Gander

Anna has every right to be furious with Holly and also with Robert once she learns that he knew Holly was working for Victor, yet still let Anna twist in the wind. But we hope that, under the circumstances, Anna will understand why Holly did what she did.

After all, if Anna proclaimed herself willing to do anything she had to, to anyone she had to — including her current love, Valentin — if it meant protecting Robin, then she should be sympathetic to the position Holly and Robert put her in.
