Why Anna Devane Should Be Afraid of An Olivia Jerome GH Reunion

Find out the history behind this mystery.

General Hospital Olivia Jerome and Anna Devane

General Hospital fans got a blast from the past when Cyrus Renault warned Laura Collins to keep Anna Devane out of prison…because Olivia Jerome was already getting her welcome wagon ready. And he didn’t mean that in a nice way. (Is anything nice about life in prison?)

General Hospital Past Serves The Future

This, of course, prompted some viewers to ask: Who is Oliva Jerome (Tonja Walker)? Fear not, we’ve got your answer – at least as it pertains to Anna (Finola Hughes).

GH: Triangle Fire

The first thing to know is that Olivia Jerome is not Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero). Just like, in real life, more than one person can have the same name — How many Madisons are there in your kid’s class? How many Bens and Michaels — this sometimes (rarely) happens on soaps.

Oliva Jerome was there first. She is Ava Jerome Cassadine’s (Maura West) older sister and, in the late 1980s, in between putting out a hit on her brother, Julian Jerome (last played by William deVry), fought Anna (Finola Hughes) for Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan). When she realized she’d never have him, Olivia tried to kill Duke in a defective elevator — but got Anna instead, who lost her and Duke’s baby.

Olivia eventually tried to redeem herself by telling Anna where she could find a presumed dead Duke, but was shot and went into a coma. And then she was presumed dead.

Olivia Jerome and Anna Devane: Second Act

Almost 20 years later, a still alive — we know, shocker — Olivia (now called ‘Liv” due to the other Olivia) was back in Port Charles, once again kidnapping people like Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), drugging people like Laura Collins (Genie Francis), and killing Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig).

She also went back to the kidnapping Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) and trying to kill Anna. Liv was sent to prison, but she, naturally, blamed Anna for it. Which is why them being cellmates, or even sharing the same building, is a very big danger for our Anna.
