Man Crush Monday: Celebrating GH’s Evan Hofer and Dex

Evan Hofer didn’t start out wanting to be an actor. In fact, as a young man he wanted to play for the NBA, but that didn’t work out for him. When his family made the big move from Kansas to Los Angeles, Hofer thought he might try his hand at acting. After a recurring role on Disney’s XD series Kickin’ It and some other primetime guest spots, he landed his first dramatic role in the 2018 feature film Run the Race. In 2022, the actor was cast in the mysterious role of Dex Heller on General Hospital.

Hofer arrived in Port Charles as a veteran working as the manager of Volonino’s Gym. It wasn’t long before Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) grew impressed with his work and offered him a position in his “organization.” (Read about the actors’ real-life relationship here.)

Eventually, it was revealed that Dex was working undercover for Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), trying to get the goods on the mobster. The situation grew more complicated when the gym manager and part-time hood came to respect his complicated employer, and he fell for his boss’s stepdaughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). 

Michael had second thoughts about Sonny when his wife Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) grew very ill, and he dropped his petty vendetta against his father. Dex decided to keep being Sonny’s right-hand man and is now openly, and with full permission, dating Joss. Luckily, things are not so complicated for Hofer. Jennifer Aniston!

All of the Mission Impossible movies.

The OC. 

4.) What is your favorite comfort food, and why?

My mom’s spaghetti, I could eat it for every meal, every day, and never get tired of it.

5.)     What is your favorite holiday and why? 

Valentine’s Day, I love a rom-com.

6.)    Does your character have a secret crush? If so, who? 

Not that I know of. Dex would be foolish not to have a crush on Anna [Finola Hughes] or Ava [Maura West], though.
