Before Lucky and Elizabeth officially reunite this week on General Hospital, let’s take a look back at the romance that dubbed the supercouple “LL2.”
Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) first met outside Kelly’s Diner (now known as Bobbie’s) in 1997. It was love at first sight for Elizabeth, but Lucky was more drawn to her sister, Sarah (ex-Jennifer Sky). It wasn’t until the following Valentine’s Day when Elizabeth was attacked and Lucky found her, forever securing their bond.
A romantic dance in the park and a guitar serenade later, LL2 was born, and often double dated alongside the other half of “The Four Musketeers,” Nikolas (ex-Tyler Christopher) and Emily (ex-Amber Tamblyn). By Valentine’s Day 1999, the couple were exchanging vows in a church as an act of commitment to each other.
The couple stayed strong through both turmoil and the time of their lives, until it all went up in flames. When Lucky was presumably killed in a fire, Port Charles mourned the loss while viewers were let in on a little secret: Lucky was alive and being held captive by none other than his parents’ arch nemesis, Helena (Constance Towers).

When Luke (ex-Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) rescued their son, they learned he’d been brainwashed with the Ice Princess, and it wasn’t until Elizabeth kidnapped him herself that he snapped out of it. But Sarah’s return threw a wrench in the wheel, and when Lucky kissed her, Elizabeth ended things with him.
Their 2004 marriage became the starting point of Lucky’s drug addiction when they wound up in a trainwreck on the way to their honeymoon and Lucky got addicted to his painkillers. After Lucky secured pills from Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and cheated with her, Elizabeth retaliated by sleeping with Jason (Steve Burton).
Elizabeth’s unexpected pregnancy with Jake offered her a way to help get Lucky sober, so she told him the baby was his, when it was really Jason’s. Fast forward a few years and Lucky and Elizabeth are in the same exact scenario, this time with Aiden’s paternity. After Lucky’s slip from sobriety and Helena changes the DNA test results, it’s finally revealed that Lucky is Aiden’s father, but too much damage had been done between LL2, forcing Lucky to leave Port Charles to do some soul searching.
Lucky and Elizabeth haven’t been in a relationship since 2011, and while Lucky has been in Africa finding himself, Elizabeth has been in several relationships, including a marriage to former serial killer Franco (ex-Roger Howarth) and most recently, a date with her ex, Ric (Rick Hearst). As for Lucky, he went from doing humanitarian work to turning into a Luke 2.0 as he conned his way into Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) camp and cheated his way through poker games.
Since Lucky’s latest return, he’s made his feelings for Elizabeth clear to viewers. Not only did he reminisce about dancing with her as teenagers, but he later hallucinated about her tending to his wounds in his cell. Back in Port Charles, Elizabeth has talked with several friends about her uncertainty over Lucky’s homecoming.
