Lexi Ainsworth Out As GH’s Kristina, DAYS Alum Kate Mansi In

In a surprise casting move, actress Kate Mansi, who was last seen as Abby on Days of our Lives, is joining General Hospital as Kristina Corinthos. Previously, Lexi Ainsworth played the part of Sonny and Alexis’s daughter.

Kate Mansi Joins General Hospital

Soap Opera Digest broke the casting news that Mansi was cast in the part of Kristina. She is set to air for the first time during the week of May 22. Ainsworth, who first joined the show in 2009 and has played the part on and off ever since, last aired on April 27.

Why the Switch

There’s no word yet on whether this was Ainsworth’s decision or the show’s. The character was recast once before when Ainsworth was in the role. Actress Lindsey Morgan (The 100) played the part from 2012-13. Then, Ainsworth stepped back into the part in 2015. Mansi last appeared on DAYS in 2020.

Kate Mansi and Lexi Ainsworth have something else in common besides the role of Kristina. Both are Daytime Emmy winners. Mansi won the statuette for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for playing DAYS’ Abby in 2017. The same year, Ainsworth won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series.
