Kirsten Storms, who recently celebrated a milestone birthday, has been playing Maxie on General Hospital for nearly two decades. But the actress recently revealed another passion of hers that may turn into her next career move.
On the latest episode of Daily Drama, hosted by GH’s Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson, the actors asked Storms about her love of knitting and crocheting sweaters. “I’m constantly making sweaters. Harper has way more than she would actually like,” she joked about her daughter with Days of Our Lives’ Brandon Barash (whose DAYS character has been in hot water recently).
“I made one for Becky Herbst the other day,” she continued. “I mixed, maybe, 25 different types of yarn in the jacket, so hers specifically took me, like, a week and a half.”
Storms also delved into the positive effect it’s had on her mental health. “It’s a cognitive behavioral exercise,” she explained. “It’s really meditative for me.”
When Burton asked why she doesn’t have her own line, Storms admitted it’s something she’s considered. “I purchased a website name, I bought tags,” she revealed. “But so much goes into making them that I think I need time to stock up on a bunch of sweaters.”
“We’re going to start your business right now,” Burton declared. “We’re going to do custom orders,” he said, then invited their listeners to message the actress on Instagram if they would like one of her sweaters. “I think I’m going to list different groupings of colors they can select from and then they’ll pick the colors that they want, but then I decide the placement because it’s kind of haphazardly done,” said Storms.
“I think there’s so much value in that, if somebody can find that creative release where you can get into flow state, where you’re not thinking about the past, you’re just present,” Burton continued to cheer his costar on. “To be able to have a business doing what you love to do, it is really the cherry on top.”
