General Hospital’s Kirsten Storms Has ‘Funny Story’ About Why She Has A Black Eye

General Hospital star Kirsten Storms has been through the ringer both in real life, and as Maxie on the show. But a simple, every day task proved to be harmful in an unexpected way, and she shared the results with the fans.

A Shocking Black Eye

After having dealt with brain surgery in 2021 and mental health issues, GH’s Kirsten Storms (Maxie) recently underwent a stunning transformation as her character embarked on a new romantic relationship with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), and she overcame adversity. But, on August 8 she shared a startling selfie on Instagram that had fans confused and worried. In the black and white snap, she’s sporting a massive black eye with bruising on the bridge and tip of her nose, and major bruises going from one of her eyes down toward her mouth. She wrote about what should have been a simple task that proved injurious: “One of those “funny story, but not funny when I need coffee” moments…”

She then explained how the black eye was real and took it in stride by continuing, “I’ve opened several canisters of @illy_coffee tins, and never have the grounds exploded out of that cute metal container. ::sigh:: There is a first time for everything. 🤷🏼‍♀️.” She hilariously added, “I can say with certainty that I prefer my coffee brewed in hot water (or over ice)…straight from the container doesn’t taste that good. 😁 (*In their defense, there is a warning on the lid. It’s written in several languages.*)”

Fans and Co-Workers Were Horrified

Storms’ castmate Finola Hughes (Anna), responded, “I thought it was a GH storyline!! I’m thinking ‘who would dare to give Maxie a black eye?’ ” Several fans thought the same thing as Hughes, with one responding, “@finolafilona right?!! Like, who would be that stupid to give Maxie a black eye?!! 😂.” Not wasting the opportunity for an obvious GH joke, one fan replied, “Corinthos coffee? 😂” followed by several fans also responding with crying/laughing emojis. Of course, Corinthos Coffee is the legitimate cover business for our favorite mobster, Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Recipe creator Michelle Lundstrom who appeared on season 2 of the Netflix show, BBQ Showdown, and is also currently dating Storms’ co-star Steve Burton (Jason), wrote, “😂😂😂 It looked like amazing makeup for Halloween.”

Storms’ coffee-related injury is one that makeup artists everywhere should look at for reference, but she overcame it with grace and humor. While she also does knitting on the side, we’re hoping she stays safe and doesn’t receive any knitting injuries.
