Kelly Monaco has finally spoken out about her shocking firing at General Hospital. This time, she replied to comments on a Soap Hub Instagram post.
The Truth Will Set You Free
On a Soap Hub Instagram post about Greg Vaughan supporting Monaco, one reader replied, writing, “Terrible they fired Kelly, what a terrible thing to do. What’s their problem??😢😢😢I love Gregg Vaughn. Hope he can stay on Days. ❤️🙏❤️❤️🙏🙏”
Another soap fan wrote, “What do you got concrete in your head she wasn’t fired she didn’t take the pay cut so she had to leave.”
Monaco replied to that comment, which repeated erroneous information about her refusing to take a pay cut. Previously, Soap Opera Network reported that Monaco indicated she had taken the pay cut.
She wrote, “‘No primary role’.. do your homework. When Billy Miller was fired, Sam’s storyline stopped. Stripping Sam of every characteristic she had. Something I worked for decades to build… Slowly dismantling her, into a character that I did not recognize, let alone the audience. Call it what you will… retaliation at it[s] finest. I will give a proper statement. The truth will set you free.”
It appears as if Monaco’s reply was about a comment by stacieee123 that read, “👏👏👏👏👏👏so what if she was a ‘fan favorite’ she is not that great an actress!! She is monotone, had no primary roles & just boring. 🥱”
The information comes after Monaco vowed to tell her and Miller’s story on the first anniversary of his death. Fans supporting the actress, who’s portrayed Sam McCall on GH since October 1, 2003, 21 years ago today, have been vocal online and offline. They’ve urged the soap to keep her on the cast and Sam on the canvas. Supportive viewers even got a billboard in Times Square to support her staying with the daytime drama.
Fans replying to Monaco were overwhelmingly supportive, letting her know how much they missed seeing the Sam of old in Port Charles. Soap Hub reached out to the actress. We will have the latest details as soon as they are available.
