General Hospital star Josh Kelly has a new action thriller, The Workout, which will be released in select theaters on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The high-stakes drama combines soap opera talent with action filmmaking for a gripping story of vengeance, survival, and family.
About The Film
The movie stars Peter Jae as Army Ranger Wyatt Park, a man whose life is torn apart in a single moment. What begins as an ordinary workout video shoot with his pregnant wife, Becca (Galadriel Stineman), quickly turns into chaos when a mob hit erupts. In the violent aftermath, Becca is killed, leaving Wyatt devastated but determined to fight back. Alongside his brother-in-law Levi, played by Kelly, Wyatt sets out to track down those responsible. Every step of their bloody mission is documented on camera as a legacy for the child who survives the attack.
The Workout made its buzzy world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2024, where it drew attention for its emotional core and gritty action sequences. Following its festival success, the film will roll out for a special limited theatrical run across the United States beginning August 27. Audiences who prefer to watch from home won’t have long to wait—VOD and Blu-ray editions are scheduled for release on October 28, giving fans multiple ways to experience the story.
The actor, who joined GH in 2022 as Cody Bell, was recently placed on recurring status with the ABC daytime drama. That move sparked concern among fans who worried he might be leaving Port Charles for good. However, Kelly clarified in a recent Soap Opera Digest interview that his status change was his choice, allowing him the flexibility to pursue new projects while still keeping Cody’s story alive on the soap.
That comes as good news for fans of the show because Cody is involved with both Ava (Maura West) and Molly (Kristen Vaganos). He also shared a storyline with the recently returned Britt (Kelly Thiebaud). Kelly’s first scenes as Coby involved parachuting into the Metro Court pool and landing on Britt.
