Jeopardy has been known for throwing in a soap opera clue or two in its 41 seasons, and the latest episode gave a shout-out to a General Hospital rockstar.
Paging GH Fans
The May 7 episode of Jeopardy featured a question only Port Charles’ biggest fans would understand. Shared by GH’s Instagram, the clue read:
“Pop music idol Rick Springfield played Dr. Noah Drake on this medical drama that has aired more than 15,000 episodes.”
The answer is, of course, “What is General Hospital?”
Springfield rose to fame as Noah in 1981, just before his hit “Jessie’s Girl” came out. The singer and actor has since reprised the role of Noah from 2005-2007, played fictional rockstar Eli Love from 2007-2008, and made a guest appearance as himself at the 2013 Nurses Ball for GH’s 50th anniversary. Many fled to the comments with love for the Soap and the actor. “Rick Springfield on Solid Gold was what got me to start watching GH,” one long-time fan noted, while another remembered, “Saw him in concert some 40 years ago.”

As for Springfield’s iconic character, one viewer was quick to note, “Emma’s grandad,” referring to Braedyn Bruner’s character’s paternal grandfather. “Loved all the Drake family, Patrick and Robin, Emma, Noah Jr.,” another said.
While many knew the correct answer to this one, a few decided to joke in the comments, with some answering with “All My Children,” while another said, “ER!” AMC has been making headlines after GH’s Maurice Benard (Sonny) recently revealed that he believes ABC made a mistake by cancelling both that and One Life To Live.
