GH’s James Patrick Stuart Says THIS Is His Favorite Paid Role

General Hospital’s James Patrick Stuart has been wowing fans since 1980, and he recently revealed the role that he loved playing the most.

It’s Not What You Might Think

General Hospital star James Patrick Stuart always has a coy glint in his eye as he gleefully plays bad guy-turned-good-guy-turned-bad guy, Valentin Cassadine. Once the most lethal member of his family — so much so that even the vicious Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) once feared him — Valentin lost his edge when he learned that he had a daughter, Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez). However, with his recent appointment as head of nefarious government contractor Pikeman, and his plan to take Sonny (Maurice Benard) down, he’s definitely back in villain territory.

Starting out at 12 years old playing Dr. Zee on the much-maligned Galactica 1980, he worked his way up through a litany of films, TV shows, and voiceover work, stopping along the way to play the evil Leviathan Dick Roman on Supernatural in 2011, and settling in as Valentin in 2016. Along with his soap role, he currently does double duty as the hilarious patriarch villain Kraniac, aka Vic Madden, on the highly popular and entertaining Disney series, The Villains of Valley View

In June 2017, Stuart singled out one television series from his resume and posted a photo of the cast on Instagram. “Victor Fresco’s brilliant single-camera office comedy, Andy Richter Controls the Universe ran on the Fox network from 2001 – 2002,” he wrote, adding, “It starred Jonathan Slavin, Paget Brewster, Irene Malloy, Andy Richter, and me. It remains the most fun I’ve ever had while getting paid.”

What do you think? Post a comment!

The title character of the show, Andy Richter, nabbed this series as his first starring gig since he left his job as Conan O’Brien’s version of Ed MacMahon on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2000. In it, Richter is an aspiring writer who has to do a mundane technical writing job to pay the bills, and he’s also lousy with women. Stuart played his best friend Keith who had no trouble getting what he wanted, including women, because of his good looks. The show lasted only 19 episodes across two seasons before being canceled.

One Instagram follower responded with, “I loved that show. It was before its time in a lot of ways,” and that spoke for most of the fan replies.

This revelation of Stuart’s preference, of course, implies that he does a lot of non-paid work, and we’d love to check some of those out some time!
