Actor and musician Jack Wagner has made a home for himself on Hallmark Channel’s When Calls The Heart, but admits the reception isn’t too different from his time on General Hospital.
All He Needs
Wagner played Frisco on GH off and on from 1984-1995. After becoming one half of supercouple Frisco and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) for a little over a decade, the actor wasn’t seen in Port Charles again until 2013 when he returned for the soap’s 50th anniversary. His quick return offered viewers closure of Frisco and Felicia when Felicia chose Mac (John J. York), plus a Nurses Ball performance of Wagner’s hit “All I Need.”
Aside from other daytime roles, like Warren on Santa Barbara and Nick on The Bold and the Beautiful, Wagner has become best known for starring as Bill on When Calls The Heart, which just wrapped its 12th season.
Wagner recently spoke with Melrose Place podcast Still the Place, a soap that saw Wagner as Peter from 1994-1999, about the comparison between his WCTH and GH stardom. “It does remind me a bit of General Hospital in the ’80s. That was my big break. That fan base of that soap opera is still there,” he said of GH, which is about to celebrate its 62nd anniversary on April 1.

As for WCTH, Wagner had bothering but love for his Hearties. “When a fan base starts to fall in love with the characters, it’s very real for them,” he said, but admitted, “I still get called Frisco probably more than anything.”
