Here’s Who Jonathan Jackson Credits For His Return To General Hospital

Earlier this summer, Jonathan Jackson set the soap world on fire, announcing his return to General Hospital. Later this summer, he will rejoin the series that gave him superstardom, multiple Emmys, and an iconic role in Lucky Spencer.

Giving Credit Where Credit’s Due

Accompanying the Deadline article announcing the big news, Jackson posted a video on his social media channels. In it, he credited a specific group of people for bringing him back to the daytime genre. But first, he talked about how excited he was to see Genie Francis (Laura—Jackson talks about what he learned from his soap parents here) again. In addition, he name-dropped GH’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, and “others at ABC.” He publicly appreciated them for welcoming him back to the show responsible for his big break.

Above all, he gave his love to the people he feels is responsible for his return… his fans. “I just wanted to say thank you to all of the fans over the years,” he said in the video. “Your persistence and, uh, love has certainly played a part in all of this. So I just wanted to say thank you.” If you haven’t seen the video yet, check it out below.

Many of the actor’s Soap Hub fans were overjoyed when they heard about his return. @kpmc said: “Can’t wait to see you Johnathan [sic]. I’m sure your fans missed you in these 10 years that you were away, as well as all your fellow actors and actresses that you left behind. Can’t wait to see how they bring you on board. Looking forward to this summer which is already here so where are you.”

Another fan expressed their excitement. @RedRage502 said: “Oh!! I’ve never loved any ‘young’ character like I loved Lucky since the first day he was on screen. He and Tony (Geary AKA Luke) had such a close connection; and his acting grew as he learned from Tony and Genie. Five Emmys! How I’ve wanted Jonathan back! But with his music career I didn’t dare hope for it. Jonathan with Genie again. Such sweet scenes. Finally Aiden will have his dad there. 💕 Maybe a little romance between Lucky and Elizabeth will rekindle.”

Jackson has played Lucky Spencer on and off since 1993, winning five Daytime Emmy Awards and a legion of fans who remain loyal to this day. He last appeared on GH in 2015. Over the last nine years, he starred in the hit primetime soap Nashville and performed countless concerts with his band Jonathan Jackson + Enation. Most recently, he starred opposite Candace Cameron Bure and Lost‘s Terry O’Quinn in a project called Unsung Hero.

It’s about time Lucky Spencer heads back to Port Charles. With Luke (Anthony Geary) gone and Lulu (Emme Rylan) still in a coma, Lucky’s presence is needed, especially since his mom is under fire for her stance on Heather Webber’s (Alley Mills) metallosis diagnosis. Plus, the eternal wanderer needs to check in with his family and exes, like Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst). Has he been in touch since he left? Hopefully, the show will spring Nikolas (Adam Huss) out of prison so the half-brothers can mix it up again.

We’ll keep you posted on a premiere date for Jackson’s return.
