The anticipation for Lulu’s return on General Hospital is high. After a bomb destroyed the Floating Rib restaurant in 2020, Lulu — then played by Emme Rylan — ended up in a coma. Ever since, she has been in a long-term care facility. But the meds she was given took a toll on her liver. So, she underwent a risky transplant operation. The donor, Sam, died from a heart attack while in recovery, and Lulu’s mom, Laura, has been begging her daughter to emerge from her comatose state. Lulu’s return is imminent, and we now know when Alexa Havins will officially take on the role. And it’s just around the corner.
Because Sam (Kelly Monaco) died and the hospital wants to transfer Lulu back to the care facility, Laura has been at her daughter’s side begging for her to awaken so that Sam’s death would mean something. Cue TV Guide Magazine, which announced (via Soap Opera Network) that Havins’ Lulu will wake up on November 18.
TVGM interviewed Havins, who had some exciting news for GH fans: “The writers have written some fun things. She’s waking up from a four-year coma, so we’ve got a lot of twists and turns, and we hit the ground running.” Those twists will be interesting because Lulu’s ex-husband, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), is going to be ecstatic that she’s out of her coma. However, he also lost his girlfriend, Sam, in the process.

Havins has an impressive list of credits. They include the beloved science fiction series Torchwood, a Doctor Who spin-off that starred fan favorite John Barrowman, Eve Myles, and Gareth David-Lloyd. Of course, Havins got her start in soaps when she played Babe Carey Chandler on All My Children.
She’s appeared on several other shows, including the DC Comics supernatural thriller Constantine, along with Castle and Grey’s Anatomy, just to name a few. Havins’ husband is Justin Bruening, who played Jamie Martin on AMC. And she guest-starred on his Netflix show, Sweet Magnolias. She told TV Guide Magazine that when she was asked to appear on that series, she felt it would be the last show she was on. “We met on the first thing I did and [worked together] on the last thing I did.”
Thankfully, she’s still working and bringing Lulu back to life! (Check out what else Havins and Bruening have been up to.)
