The return of General Hospital‘s Jonathan Jackson includes the introduction of a brand new character, a mysterious doctor named Isaiah. Lucky and Isaiah are currently in a sticky situation involving a crime lord. Their main goal right now is to make their escape. That’s actor Sawandi Wilson, who plays the medicine man.
The Doctor is In
Deadline broke the news of this key casting. Since Isaiah’s first appearance earlier this week, he’s patched Lucky up and punched him. Of course, that was after the wayward Spencer played Russian Roulette with his life. There’s no word on how long Wilson will be around. But the hospital certainly needs fresh new blood with Michael Easton’s departure from the show.
So, hopefully, Dr. Isaiah will head back to Port Charles with Lucky when it is time for the big brother to save his comatose little sister, Lulu. After all, she has taken a turn for the worse. And hopefully, we’ll find out more about Isaiah with each subsequent appearance. Specifically, besides Lucky, does Doc Isaiah have any other ties to Port Charles?
O Captain! My Captain!
What we’ve found out about Wilson is that the actor recently appeared in the series finale of the Paramount+ space drama Star Trek: Discovery. In the finale, he played Captain Leto, who turned out to be — SPOILER ALERT — the son of Admiral Michael Burnham and her great love, Cleveland “Book” Booker. Trekkies seemed to love this appearance so much they’re hoping his Starfleet Captain will pop up again somewhere else in the Star Trek universe.
While GH films in Los Angeles, Wilson is largely a New York-based actor. So it should be no surprise that his guest star appearances include episodes of NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, CBS’s Bull, and Starz’s Run This World. The Hofstra University grad played Marcus in Amazon’s Harlem, a show starring Meagan Good. He also had a recurring role in Netflix’s The House of Flowers.
Wilson’s nonacting skills include breakdancing. As a bboy, he has filmed and battled all over the world. According to his website, “he has taught workshops through non-profit organizations in Haiti and dance studios in Spain.” He’s also credited as a “mover dancer” in the movie Step Up 3D.
Soap Hub is beyond excited to welcome Wilson to General Hospital. And we can’t wait to see his character develop should he return to Port Charles with Lucky.
