Luke and Laura’s firstborn son, Lucky Spencer, is headed back to Port Charles. In a casting coup, Jonathan Jackson, the actor who originated the character back in 1993, stepped back into the role.

7 Things to Know

Jackson was cast as Lucky at age 10 in 1993 and remained with the soap until 1999. He returned from 2009 to 2011 and briefly reprised the role in 2015. In between his GH stints, he branched out into film and starred in the nighttime series Nashville as Avery Barkley.

Want to know more about the actor? Here are seven things to know about Jonathan Jackson.

1. Jackson was born in Orlando, Florida, but raised in Washington state. He is the youngest of three children. His older brother is actor/singer Richard Lee Jackson. He also has a sister, Candice.

2. The acting bug first bit him during a family trip to Universal Studios Hollywood in 1991. His parents agreed to let their two sons try their luck in the medium for six months. So Jonathan and Richard relocated to Los Angeles with their mother, while their father stayed home in Washington with Candice.

3. Jackson was nominated for nine Daytime Emmy awards during his GH tenure. He took home the gold five times, winning three times for Outstanding Younger Actor (1995, 1998, 1999) and twice for Outstanding Supporting Actor (2011, 2012).

4. He made his film debut in Christopher Lloyd’s Camp Nowhere in 1994. However, his breakout big screen role came as Michelle Pfeiffer’s son, troubled teen Vincent Cappadora, in 1999’s The Deep End of the Ocean.

5. He was named one of People‘s 50 Most Beautiful People in 1999. He was 17.

6. Jackson has been married to Lisa Vultaggio since June 21, 2002, an actress with ties to GH. She portrayed Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) love interest, FBI agent Hannah Scott, from 1999 to 2001. The couple have three children: daughter, Adora, and sons, Caleb and Titus.

7. He’s also a talented musician, having written and recorded numerous songs. Jackson has toured with the cast of Nashville and the rock band, Enation, which he formed with his brother in 2003. The Jackson brothers’ band released their first album, “Identity Thief,” in 2004. It was followed up by “Soul & Story: Volume One, Where the Fire Starts,” “World in Flight,” and “My Ancient Rebellion” in 2011, along with other live albums and specialty EPs.
