Here’s How Molly Feels After Sam’s Death On General Hospital

As General Hospital fans’ hearts broke over Sam’s death, so too were her family and friends. They were devastated. Her sisters, Molly and Kristina, have different ways of approaching life. And each deals with Sam’s demise in their own way. Molly’s portrayer, Kristen Vaganos, opened up about her own feelings on the matter. She also explained what Molly’s thought process is.

Heartbreak Occurred in Reel Life and Real Life

Soap Opera Digest asked Vaganos about what’s been going through Molly’s mind. The actress said that reality hit Molly when she realized the last time she saw Sam (Kelly Monaco), she and Kristina (Kate Mansi) fought. They had words about the impending trial in which Ava (Maura West) is accused of causing their baby’s death. “Sam ended up storming out because we made the moment about us and got caught up in our own stuff and our own anger,” she stated.

But it wasn’t just Molly who was upset at Sam’s death. The one-two punch of Kristina losing the baby she was carrying for Molly and the subsequent death of Sam affected Vaganos. Knowing before the audience did that Sam was going to die, Vaganos admitted to crying once during the scene where Sam left while the sisters fought.

The actress explained, “It broke my heart. It’s just really hard.” She further remarked that she could relate to Molly’s plight because “My sister in real life is my best friend, too, and I just cannot even imagine how devastating this is for Molly. I just feel so bad for her!”

Kristina’s a Tough Nut to Crack

Vaganos also explained that while their mother, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and Molly have a hard enough time wrapping their brains around the fact that Molly’s dad, Ric (Rick Hearst), is defending Ava, Kristina won’t understand why Ric’s doing it. She feels that Molly will explain to Kristina that there’s nothing personal about her attempting to understand her dad’s motives. “But you never can get through to Kristina.”

Vaganos predicted that the issue would negatively affect Molly’s rapport with Kristina. “So it’s really looming over her in a very dark way.” She also feels that Molly has been through the wringer with the two deaths so close together and feels bad for her character, further explaining that for Molly, “It’s sort of just too much.”
