Here’s How Fans Feel About the Jason and Anna Kiss on General Hospital

Jason and Anna were trapped by Sidwell and believed they were about to die on General Hospital. The two were imprisoned in a cage with Anna starting to fall apart, and hearing guards coming, Jason kissed her. Fans didn’t see that coming, and their reactions were overwhelming.

Anna Was Shaken and Stirred

Never before in the history of GH have we seen Anna (Finola Hughes) come so unglued as when she thought Sidwell (Carlo Rota) was going to kill her and Jason (Steve Burton). She started banging the bed in their makeshift prison, trying to find anything that could be used to pick the locks. Jason grabbed her to console the former spy, and they got so close that he planted one right on her lips on the September 26 episode. In that scene, he obviously heard the guards coming and kissed her as a distraction. But Anna has been thinking about that kiss ever since.

On Instagram, Hughes posted a picture of Anna and Jason dressed to the nines when they infiltrated a casino to get close to Sidwell. She captioned it, “‘Oh, we travel. A sort of licensed troubleshooter.’ #gh #007 @1steveburton.”

She was quoting Sean Connery’s James Bond from the 1965 classic Thunderball. When asked what he did for a living, Bond replied, “Oh, I travel…a sort of – licensed troubleshooter.” Jason dressed himself in a white tux with a black lapel and tie, similar to Connery’s outfit in the film. (Flash back to Connery’s passing in 2020.)

GH alum Vanessa Marcil (Brenda) replied, “🔥 This is the duo we need please,” and a fan responded in kind with, “@vanessamarcilmlovesk Anna and Jason! The 💋we all have been waiting for! 🔥🔥💋💋.”

Noting their nuanced performances, one fan detailed, “When it comes to your acting, 🎶Nobody Does It Better🎶 You two are clearly having 007 FUN working together‼️🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♂️I about DIED laughing yesterday when Anna ordered champagne 🥂. Jason ordered a beer. 🍺 In a bottle‼️😂😂🤨🤨Anna’s disapproving expression was HILARIOUS! Jason’s raised brow & subsequent glare back was EQUALLY HILARIOUS‼️♥️♦️♠️♣️.” 

Many fans loved the whole sequence of events and complimented the duo on their marvelous attire, with Hughes in a sparkly purple dress. The story brought fans back in time as one reminisced, “Sexy Jason ❤️❤️🔥🔥 this plot reminds me of the 80’s Scorpio, Jones, Donely adventures.” Another viewer praised the pairing while simultaneously hedging their bet with, “Their chemistry is off the chart[s] and they each get each other. If not…best team up ever!❤️❤️🔥🔥.”

Bond references ran throughout the responses as some called Burton “Jason Bond,” and one viewer wrote, “Shaken, but not stirred. Fantastic! #TeamDevane ❤️❤️❤️.”

Of course, Soap Twitter^TM…uh, X, also weighed in. Some noted that Jason and Anna seemed to feel something unexpected. “Jason kissed Anna as a distraction because he heard the guards coming, but I think they both felt something during the kiss 🙈! Especially Anna she wanted to wrap her arms around him. #LAWD #GH #Janna fans?”

Others were less excited about the unexpected interaction. “Reaction to Jason and Anna kiss #gh #FireFrank,” one fan named Nick Williams wrote.

Another pointed out a fairly obvious reason why the kiss wasn’t the best idea. “Can’t watch live today, but I just read that Jason kissed Anna! 🤢 He was in love with Robin [Kimberly McCullough]!!! This damn well better be a ruse to escape! #GH”

That sentiment was repeated several times. Like this fan, “They could have done Jason and Ava [Maura West] or Anna and Dante [Dominic Zamprogna], and they wouldn’t have had as much backlash as this Anna and Jason kiss is getting. It’s not about the age. It’s about Jason and Robin. #GH”
