General Hospital’s Carolyn Hennesy made her Hallmark Channel debut in the new Christmas film Deck The Walls, and she stole the show like she always does.
The cleverly titled Deck The Walls follows Brysen (Wes Brown), who pairs up with an old frenemy, Rose (Ashley Greene), and her brother to flip a house for a deserving family in time for Christmas. The trio endure a series of unfortunate events leading up to move-in day, but the close work quarters eventually bring Brysen and Rose closer than ever.

The film as a whole bored in both storytelling and in the romance department. As enjoyable as it was to see Brown play a more carefree character compared to his typical, charming leading men, Brysen and Rose had zero chemistry whether they were feuding or falling for each other.
Despite its unique approach, the house flip story was less appealing than Hallmark’s typical plot points, like small town Christmases or reuniting old flashes at the holidays. Instead, this film took two characters with no interest in each other and forced them together for the sake of a heterosexual romance, when the side romance between Rose’s gay brother and his high school nemesis was much more interesting and believable.
The saving grace of the film? Hennesy as Rose’s sweet but spunky Aunt GiGi. Known by soap fans as a badass attorney to the mob, Hennesy demonstrated a softer side as her character tended to her niece and nephew and helped them through the house flip by offering advice, reassurance, and plenty of food. The actress even documented her time in Utah while shooting the film back in September.
