Kimberly J. Brown, who played pre-teen Marah on Guiding Light in the 1990s and, more recently, a hit woman who tried to take out Maxie on General Hospital, has tied the knot. The actress wed fellow performer and Halloween co-star Daniel Kountz.
This Will Be…An Everlasting Love
“We had the most beautiful day of our dreams because of all of the incredible people [named in the Instagram post below],” the couple posted jointly, “we will be forever grateful for all their hard work! a huge thank you to our family & friends who celebrated with us and surrounded us with so much love.”
As veteran GL fans recall, Brown delivered the dramatic goods after Marah’s father Josh (Robert Newman) wed Annie Dutton (Cynthia Watros, now Nina on GH). Before the newlyweds could go on their honeymoon, Josh learned that his “late” wife Reva (Kim Zimmer) was alive. Brown held her own with veteran actors in scenes on board the Spaulding jet where Josh and Reva shared a dramatic (and overdue) reconciliation.
Brown was nominated for Outstanding Young Actress in a Drama Series at the 1996 Daytime Emmys. She left GL in 1999 and reprised Marah in 2006. Brown and Kountz appeared in the 2001 film Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge. After a long absence from daytime, the actress returned to soaps in 2021 as GH’s Marie Hopkins, who colluded with Peter August (Wes Ramsey) by taking the identity of Nurse Chloe Jennings, who attempted to steal Maxie’s unborn daughter.
Veteran soap fans found it a bit surreal to watch Frisco and Felicia’s daughter (Maxie) engage in a physical battle with the actress who played Josh and Reva’s daughter on GL. Maxie emerged victorious after Marie fell into a ditch — and to her death.
Soap Hub congratulates Brown and Kountz on their marriage.
