GH’s Tabyana Ali Unwraps ‘Sprina’s’ Very Merry Christmas

Fear not “Sprina” fans! According to Tabyana Ali, much like Seuss’s Grinch, General Hospital‘s Portia will find her heart growing three sizes on Christmas day (metaphorically speaking, of course).

In an exclusive with Soap Opera Digest, Ali explains the holiday setup. Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) puts in an appearance ala Thanksgiving and she says, “It’s a very exciting moment for Trina to have all her favorite people together. And, you know, even though Portia [Brook Kerr] is not the biggest fan of Spencer, I think she’s starting to come around a little bit because she knows that, ‘Oh, wow, looks like he’s sticking around and staying tight.’ She’s getting used to the idea of him being around more often.”

A one-on-one conversation with Spencer further thaws the animosity that Portia feels for him — and though Trina isn’t privy to specifics, Ali is certain her alter-ego would approve wholeheartedly. “I know if she heard this conversation, Trina would be giddy,” says the actress.

That chat results in Portia extending Spencer an olive branch in the form of an invitation to join the family in decorating an ornament that will go on the tree.

“It is extremely heartwarming. Trina gets to have all of her favorite people together, like I said, and Spencer’s included in that,” enthuses Ali. “She probably never really thought that would happen. She probably imagined it and dreamed of it, and it’s like she’s getting to have her dream come true, to have all of her people together and celebrating these special moments like a family.”
