Known to General Hospital fans as the fill-in Brook Lynn Quartermaine, who put her own stamp on the part, Briana Lane was wife to writer/producer John Lange, who passed away on March 14, 2023. To mark what would have been a most auspicious day, Lane took to social media and poured out her heart.
Briana Lane Remembers John Lang
“Tomorrow would’ve been John and I’s 8-year wedding anniversary and this month marks 8 without him,” began Lane’s heart-wrenching Instagram story. “Our memories together feel surreal and otherworldly now. Distant glimmers projected on a screen in what feels like someone else’s life’s museum. Unreachable, unfathomable, yet overwhelmingly beautiful, familiar and comforting.
“John loved Bukowski [the German-American poet, novelist, and short story writer]” shared the actress. “He made fun of the fact that he was a miserable drunk that people glorified too much, but he never said a word when I wrote ‘what matters most is how well you walk through the fire’ on our fridge during my millennial cartoon phase. It’s odd to say on a public Instagram post that I believe my late husband is somehow guiding me through this Bukowski quote, but I’ve been seeing it everywhere now, and I feel him nodding to me every time.
“Some fires we put ourselves in, others we don’t get to choose. Either way, the only path is through. I like to think that wherever he is, he’s proud of me for crossing to the other side this year, redefining parts of myself that needed it, coming out stronger, more present, and also most definitely rolling his eyes at me for wearing this dumb hat. Happy 8 years John, and happy 8 months in heaven. Sending love forever from the big desert sky,” Lane concluded (see her Instagram post here).
The long-term couple married on December 6, 2016, at the Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs, CA. Seven years and some three months later, Lane revealed that he had passed away. Her simple, bittersweet tribute consisted of a picture of the two captioned, “I’ll love you forever my sweet John.”
As before, Lane was inundated with commiserations and well-wishes from friends, fans, and former co-stars. Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine) sent her love and a heart emoji.
Soap Hub extends sincere condolences to Lane and Lang’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.
