Alexis Davis has been hit hard by her friend Gregory’s ALS diagnosis on General Hospital, and her portrayer, Nancy Lee Grahn, knows exactly how she feels. The Daytime Emmy winner opens up about her own friend fighting the disease and how you can help.
Nancy Lee Grahn Opens Up
“My very good, sweet friend Michelle was diagnosed with ALS in 2018,” the actress said in a moving video she posted on her official X (formerly Twitter) account. “And since that moment, she’s been fighting for her life with nothing but grace, fierceness, dignity, and positivity. And at the same time, she’s also been fighting for everybody else with ALS through raising awareness, through her fundraising — all to find a cure.”
The Michelle whom Grahn is talking about is Michelle Strojny, who has worked to raise funds to fight ALS through the organization ALS One. Right now, the GH star wants to draw your attention to how each and every one of us can help.
“Now, ALS is not incurable. It’s just underfunded,” Grahn points out. “So we need to do better. We need to work harder. Michelle is hosting a fundraiser, which she’s done every year since she was diagnosed called Rise Against ALS.” This party is the 2023 Decades Dance Night, which will be held in Middleboro Elks, MA. According to the official site, the event will have music from the decades by DJ Mike Grondin, an Italian buffet, a cash bar, raffles, and silent auction items. An individual ticket costs $25. There are also sponsorship opportunities. They have raised over $3,000 so far, but that is far short of $15,000. You can help make their goal a reality.
“Go to riseagainstALS.com. Buy a ticket. It’s September 30th. And if you can’t buy a ticket, see if you can donate. Let’s help Michelle find a cure for ALS. Thanks,” said Grahn. You can watch her video on X by clicking here. Get ticket information or make a donation by clicking here.
