Lulu may be stuck in a medically induced coma after barely surviving a bomb blast in which she lost her then-boyfriend, but actress Emme Rylan sure has reason to celebrate today.
That’s because she was born on November 4, 1980, in Providence, North Carolina, which means that this much-beloved performer is turning 43 years old today! Having completed a two-year acting program at the William Esper Studio, Rylan — born Marcy Faith — made her on-camera debut during a guest appearance on the Nickelodeon comedy program Drake & Josh.
One year later, Rylan joined the cast of the CBS daytime soap opera Guiding Light as Lizzie Spaulding. That same year, she appeared in the straight-to-video film Bring It On: All Or Nothing as antagonist Winnie Harper. Ironically, her co-star in that picture – Hayden Panettiere — had played GL’s Lizzie for four years.
Rylan remained with the beloved CBS serial until its cancelation in 2009 and then almost immediately won the part of legacy character Abby Newman-Abbott on The Young and the Restless.
Rylan appeared as Abby from May 2010 to October 23, 2012, and returned for a brief stint between February and April 2013.
That same month, the soap world learned Rylan had been hired to replace Julie Marie Berman as Lesley Lu (Lulu) Spencer on the ABC series General Hospital and she made her first appearance in an episode aired on April 11, 2013. In December of 2020, she left the show after Lulu was shipped off to a medical facility in New York.
Outside of her work in daytime, Rylan has made guest appearances on &#*! My Dad Says and CSI and she has taken part in a number of short films including Impulse Black, Shevenge, and 2BRO2b.
