Though Dr. Terry Randolph hasn’t had a whole lot going on lately on General Hospital, her fans are still thrilled anytime that Terry and her portrayer, Cassandra James, are seen onscreen. Today, the actress celebrates a major milestone that we think deserves retrospective recognition.
Happy Birthday, Cassandra James!
And that’s because she was born on July 17, 1989, which means that this trailblazing actress turns 35 today. Though James was born in Pasadena, California, she was reared in Vancouver, Canada, by her school teacher mother (Debbie Li) and her gerontologist father (James Watzke).
In her youth, James sang in a choir and took dance lessons, and she was a member of her high school’s theater program. After receiving her diploma, James moved to Toronto and attended Ryerson University. She graduated from the institution with a theater degree and headed to Los Angeles with dreams of becoming a renowned actress.
Among her credits are the erotic thriller Roobha (where she played Lucia), two short films — All This Body (as “Receptionist”) and Still Wylde (as Dr. Walden) — and an episode of the series Diggstown (as Tanya Ivanova) which stars former GH actress Vinessa Antoine (ex-Jordan Ashford).
James’s June 2018 debut on General Hospital marked a turning point in the show’s history, as she became the soap’s first openly transgender actress to play a transgender character. In addition to her job at GH as the hospital’s co-chief of staff, Terry is also connected to the canvas as a childhood friend of Elizabeth Webber Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst).
